Fair enough. I am not familiar with specifics of his life or this book, but I am - gradually - reading The Holocaust Chronicle.
Mostly my opinion of him is a reaction to those who describe him as being great in any way.
Steles of the Sky by Elizabeth Bear
is due on April 8th. The third in the three part Eternal Sky series.
It's seriously good, and I'm not even a fantasy reader. Well, I am now.
In any discussion on this topic, I like to insert my opinion that if he had never been born the German people would have put another puppet in his place to do their bidding.
No way to prove it either way - individual vs. society - but sick societies seem to be overlooked far too often.
Economies of scale, and the fact that many of the books Amazon sells are ebooks.
I personally think Amazon is doing much good for reading and books in general, but candlestick makers are always going to object to light bulbs.
Apologies if I recycle points already made in this thread, but the longer I use ereaders the more I'm aware of their advantages and disadvantages.
The biggest advantages IMO:
Stacks and stacks of books with me everywhere.
Dictionaries in multiple languages.
Privacy - no more answering about...
Elizabeth Bear, currently, but we are doomed to split because I can't commit.

I agree. Surprisingly, I have found that comics work well on my Kindle paper white. They are in black and white, though, so better on a tablet, but I was pleasantly surprised.
The comment sounds a little strange to me, too. It isn't one of my favorite books, although I did read it. I saw the movie first and it is one of my favorites, maybe my single most.
Emma Thompson's character asks the protagonist: "Why must you always hide what you feel?" So there is a case...
The OP and I are of the same mind; if I had to choose between my ereader and my smartphone, I would be stumped.
When the tablet display can match the readability of an e-ink device - from full sun to total darkness - then I will have only one. Before that happens, the technology will change...
