J.K. Rowling, is probably my favorite since Harry Potter. Alexandre Dumas is a close second and Once I finish The Three Musketeers the order might change.
An excerpt from my latest review, the book The Settler of Catan by Rebecca Gable (based off the board game):
The book wasn’t put into my good graces merely because it was based off an extraordinary board game. Gable originally wrote this in German, and while the translation is great, sometimes...
Just off the top of my head:
For number 2 - The Color Purple by Alice Walker (It's considered a classic, and it's a very interesting read with some rather graphic descriptions of abuse about an African-American girl in the 1930s written in the epistolary style. It's really controversial, but I...
Here's another excerpt from my latest review, from the book My One Square Inch of Alaska by Sharon Short.
This book is packed with emotion. It will make you feel things. I wasn’t expecting this at all. The back has some slight spoilers (so if you really want to be surprised don’t read it)...
I have a (mostly) book review blog called All From Books that can be found here http://www.allfrombooks.com/
Here's an excerpt from my latest review, which is of From the Mouth of the Whale by Sjón.
This book has a lot of twists and turns, but it is fascinating. I have no idea about whether...
I thought Yoda was still a puppet in Phantom Menace (at least for the most part) and they animated him in Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith? I guess what I meant to say was costumes and the like, and I know that they changed to animation a lot for the prequel trilogy, but I never...
Can't say I saw Tron so I have no idea how that looked. I guess sometimes I forget that they don't need puppets to make realistic looking aliens, so they should be able to make a shimmery blue ghost version of Alec Guinness.
My biggest problem with the movies is that Ginny Weasley is portrayed terribly. In the books, she grows into a hilarious, confident person where in the movies, I almost feel awkward about every scene with Bonnie Wright. I don't know if this is about directed, but there were a ton of different...
I use Spotify since it has a ton of music, and I usually listen to classical soundtracks for reading or any sort of activity that requires some thought. So John Williams, Howard Shore, and the like.
Anybody watching Agent Carter on here?
I've really loved the series so far, making it not just a action series but really developing the characters and giving a strong feminism stance on things, which television has been lacking in my opinion. I'm not a huge TV watcher, but this is one of...
Harrison Ford got hurt somehow on the set, so apparently Jason Isaacs took up parts of what his role would be. Which is kind of a sad, but I guess that means Jason Isaacs is going to be a good guy? I'm really excited and crossing my fingers that I can get premiere tickets. I don't think there...
I'm not a super early adopter, but I wait for prices to drop after the initial launch and bugs to be fixed. I'm pretty slow getting into social networking and wait until my friends are just really annoyed that I don't have one. I think I like to read about new technology than actually buy it...
I ruined it for myself, I read the little summary on the title page, where it has all the publishing information, usually they don't spoil the book, but this one did and then I read the whole book just waiting and I was a bit frustrated. I agree that the characters aren't likable at all, and...
I just finished a sort of literary fiction about people who believed in the rapture, I thought it was going to be funny, and it wasn't so I was a bit disappointed. My next book is a memoir about a person who had to move from Bosnia and Herzegovina during the war, so that should be interesting.
Hi I'm Christy and I'm from America.
My favorite genres are mystery and action/adventure, though I read everything except horror. Pretty excited to have joined this forum and can't wait to see what happens.
