    Why is reading 'dorky'?

I wouldn't say that reading was "dorky" or "uncool" at my school... but then I seem to spend most of my time in the library, and my (very few) friends are like-minded people, so I probably wouldn't know... I used to be embarrassed to be sitting outside in the eyes of everyone reading, back in...

How many books have you read in 2005?

    I think I've read 100 and 30-something...

What's wrong with the public library?

I love the library! I get most of my books from there - I can't afford nor do I have the space to buy everything I read. I think the library is great, and not just for books either... they tend to have a reasonable but small collection of cds and dvds too. I love collecting and owning books...

    Book Length

Ha, I got to page 400 and something, read the final chapter and left it at that! I don't really mind about length, though sometimes I'll put off reading an exceptionally big book just because it's difficult to carry around. Several years ago when I was still reading stuff from the children's...

    Libraries

I love libraries! I, um, kinda live in my school library - well, as much as possible, anyway! Our local library allows minors to reserve books free of charge, so I'm always putting requests in for books! They used to limit the number of items you could borrow, but they don't anymore. I think...

Are Picture Books Art or Literature?

I'd say it depends. It depends on the quality of the writing, the story, the pictures... the general impression all of them give. While I think a lot of picture books would be difficult to categorise as art or literature (unless you were about 5) but some could quite conceivably be both...

    Books set where you live

I guess I've read a few. A children's author who I believe lives someone around here has written several books that are set a couple of suburbs away from where I live. I've read a few other books that have been set in this general area (though generally closer to the city)... I find it's amusing...

    Books you want to re-read

I tend to reread most things... unless I didn't like them particularly. Especially if I just want something to read for a short while. So I don't have a long list of books I desperately want to read again.

    King Arthur type books?

Yes, it's Merlin's perspective. I'm reading the Hollow Hills, and Arthur hasn't even been born yet! I really, really like it - it's much easier to read than I expected, and the characters are good. There's a fourth one? I thought it was a trilogy... shame, my library only has three.

    How do you feel when....

Nice to know I'm not alone! Depends on the book. Only get this sort of emotion if it's a good book. I feel down - a really, really, really strong sense of anti climax. I can get depressed and irritable, too. If it's a series (and presuming that it's good), I also get a overwhelming desire to...

    Interesting observation: Books vs. films

More people watch films than read. It's one of the depressing facts of life. It's much easier to sit down and watch a film - if you tune out for a few moments at the start, the film doesn't stop until you feel like pursuing it a week later or something, unlike a book. Therefore, they probably...

Seeing your own name in a book.

Not my first name and last name together. Seen my first name *yawns* nothing exciting there. But the few books I've seen my surname in has been really, really freaky. There've only been two that come to mind, out of all the books I've read. (I can think of one series where the main character's...

    Crushes on fictional characters

Want a list? :p I tend to just be rather attracted to a particular fictitious character than have a crush on them... Faramir is one that comes to mind, though I tend not to go on about that because I didn't really like him in the film. When I read Animorphs (which was sadly not all that long...

    The two Amazons

I've never bought anything off Amazon. I've mainly used it to get the cover pictures of books... or to read the "preview" of a book, and then I'll go reserve it at the library. The UK version doesn't have the extract option (which is fun, until you read the first six pages, want to read the rest...

When your reading time is interrupted-what do you do?

When I'm reading, and I'm interrupted, I just have to try not to get too annoyed. I'm interrupted a lot, and it would get tedious biting the head off everyone who makes me stop reading... especially when it's the librarian pointing out that the bell's gone, and I've got to got to class. (I've...

Can You Part With Them Easily?

My parents have never really bought me books... they say I read them too fast, so I've always loved to own books because of that. My book shelf is exploding. Two books deep, with books stacked between the top of the books and the top of the shelf... I've managed to pick up a lot that the library...

    Reading more than one book?

I always read more than one at time. I don't plan it like, it's just what happens. Sometimes I'll have a book I'm reading while travelling that lives in my bag, and another I'm reading at home or during lunchtimes in the library. I'll often go off and reread something, while I'm in the middle of...

Trying to write as the opposite gender?

*laughs* Well, that was amusing. It seemed to think that my stories were female writer but it was half and half for blog entries, and my school essays came up as male...

    Reading Habits

Name: For the sake of the argument, Herenya Age: 17 What is your favourite book? I read too much to hvae a favourite. I suppose I could sit down and seriously try to identify one book as my favourite, but I'm honestly too lazy... because I'd have to constantly be reconsidering my favourite...

Books I was supposed to love – but didn’t

I originally didn't like the Lovely Bones... but after writing (and rewriting) essays on it, and many discussions in Literature, my opinion of it has lifted. I guess I become aware of things that didn't jump out at me on the first reading.
