I like the books, my friend doesn't though and we always have arguments about it, she thinks they r too childish (shes only 15) and they don't relate to real life (real life usually sucks so who wants to read about other peoples problems when they have got enough of there own). I like Harry...
I don't think gender matters to me. im a girl but i hate reading those predictable teen girly books that i am supposed to relate too. if i wanted books like that id read my friends diary instead of buyin one
Ode on Melancholy
No no, go not to Lethe, neither twist
Wolf's-bane, tight-rooted, for its poisonous wine;
Nor suffer thy pale forehead to be kiss'd
By nightshade, ruby grape of Proserpine;
Make not your rosary of yew-berries,
Nor let the beetle, nor the death-moth be
Your mournful...
I'm studying poetry for english too. We have to do war poetry one of my faveourites is Dulce et Decorum est by Willfred Owen. That,and anything by Edgar Allen Poe.
I'm more of a novel person myself, but I really like Blood Brothers, we read it as a class group which is probably better then reading it by yourself. We went to see the play as well, it was awesome! Even though I knew the ending I still cried. I like poems too though especially by Edgar Allen Poe.
For GCSE I have to study Of Mice and Men (novel), Blood Brothers (play) and a selection of poems. If you go into a bookstore what do you generally look for, novels, plays or poems? I probably could have phrased this better but what do you prefare?
Loads. My friends tell me I should use the library but I hate having to give books back. I'm the type of person who reads things over and over again. I don't have one that I haven't read at least twice, except the ones I didn't like which I recently gave away.
I just finished reading Candy (AND NO IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MY NAME) by Kevin Brooks. It wasn't as good as Lucas his other bokk which I would recomend to anyone.
Try the Death Gate Cycle. I think that there is seven books in all, although they may be difficult to come by, I'm still trying to get a copy of the first one :confused:
