I know so many people like him, so let me apologize now. These are my opinions only!
Robert Jordan.
Everyone RAVED about the Wheel of Time books. Said they were some of the best fantasy books out there and if I loved the Sword of Truth ones (which I did), I'd love WoT.
So I checked...
Any Place I Hang My Hat by Susan Isaacs.
I loved this novel! I'd never heard of it or her, but it looked kind of interesting and it turned out to be so well written with an extremely touching story. I found myself really feeling for the main character when she messed things up and cheering...
Some that I have that have either been lent to me, given to me, or I've bought for some reason:
-The Book of Jhereg - Stephen Brust (on recommendation of a good friend)
-DaVinci Code (lent to me by a coworker)
-Memoirs of a Geisha (birthday present)
And a whole host of others, but those...
Adding on to mine:
19. Any Place I Hang My Hat - Susan Isaacs
20. The Reptile Room - Lemony Snicket
21. The Wide Window - Lemony Snicket
22. The Miserable Mill - Lemony Snicket
23. The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger (currently!)
Photographs, birthday cards, regular 3x5 card stock, the little due date slip the library sticks in there, heck, even a check stub right now. If it's flat and within reach, I use it!
I very rarely buy my own books unless I see something at Half-Price or it's an art instruction book. I use the library all the time. I think if I ever reread, which I don't, I might be more inclined to buy my own. But for now, my money's better spent on other things that I won't just go...
*thinks of her original stories*
Yep...my main ones are overcoming the monster, the quest, and tragedy.
That's really interesting! Can you tell us more about this book? Sounds like one I'd be interested in checking out!
I really loved "The Queen's Fool" by Philippa Gregory. Also, a friend of mine absolutely loved Gillian Bradshaw and she'd always be recommending her books to me. I read a few of them and they are quite well written! That's who I need to look for, in fact, next time I go to the library!
Hey everyone!
I personally haven't been offended on this forum and I'm usually the one who stands alone on most sides of the issues. However, because I am hormonal (gotta love being pregnant!), I know that I can get crabby or that my mood as a result of the day (work has sucked lately!) can...
I've never heard of them, but I'm certainly interested in checking them out. I think the closest I've ever gotten to hearing New Age type music would have been Enya or Yanni or Cirque du Soleil or something. Sounds interesting!
I think rainbows are pretty! ^_^
I knew about the homosexual thing, but I don't think that's automatically the first thing people assume when they see a rainbow. Perhaps it depends on the context? Like a bumper sticker...I'd be more inclined to associate it that way. But if it's an avatar...
What caught my attention many years ago was a book called "The Eight" by Katherine Neville. It seemed an odd title because you normally don't have a number in a noun spot. Plus, there was a big ol' infinity sign on the cover, so between the cover and the title, I was intrigued!
That's the...
I'm currently reading "Any Place I Hang My Hat" by Susan Isaacs and I'm really enjoying it! It's about a young woman who's writing an article on a Democrat Presidential candidate when a college aged young man bursts in on the party and insists that he's the man's son. As she starts helping the...
Um...sounds like your feeling of "Well that's a shame" WAS paying respects of a sort. I'm not saying you need to go set up a shrine or cry or whisper or whatever. That's silly. But you said yourself...you actually felt something. Why do things always have to be taken so extreme? That little...
I remember the tsunami getting a LOT of coverage actually. This just happens to be the news of the moment. In my mind, a death is a death no matter how famous or how unknown you might be. It's a tragic loss of life and I can completely understand it affecting people. If a person's...
Really? Wow! Mine seems to be subsiding for the most part, though I did have a bout of it this morning for a few minutes. No, I think what's going on most with me is I'm far more irritable than I normally am! And I hate being that way! Maybe I just need to curl up with a good book!
You know, I really haven't been to many concerts. I went to RockFest back when I was in college and got to see Collective Soul (I really liked their part), Matchbox 20, Paula Cole, and a bunch of other people I just can't remember now. That whole day is a blur now though.
The one concert I...
Hey, I'll answer this one too...
Favorite actor is Jim Caviezel. For the record, though, I've loved him since Frequency...not since he became more well known to everyone in "The Passion." Frequency, Count of Monte Cristo, Angel Eyes, even his small role in Pay it Forward...I've just always...
