yea, i'm not gonna lie. i felt the same way after reading Catcher in the Rye. I found that I perferred Nine Stories and Franny and Zooey most deffinitely. I dunno, I just had higher expectations for a book that was supposed to be so controversial.

I would have to say Inhuman Condition or Cabal by Clive Barker are good for first time horror readers. They're really intense and descriptive. Also, I would recommend any Stephen King, Bentley Little, or. H.P. Lovecraft.
