I read it last week and found it to be even better than I had imagined. I thought it was going to be an SF novel but it's much more than that - it's SF mixed with the best sort of mythology/fantasy. Just the idea that the borders between dimensions have opened really intrigued me. The characters...
When my brother and I were just kids (me 8 and he 11 I think), my parents were told by my grandparents that it was OK for us to watch Deliverance (with Jon Voigt and Burt Reynolds), because it wasn't that scary. I guess my grandparents had it confused with some other movie, and my mother soon...
Stewart, don't you go changing your wicked ways! You've brightened my day many times when I've needed a good laugh to ease the soulsucking wall to wall boredom of my work. You're really performing a social service of keeping me out of the loony bin.
Oh, and congrats on the appointment!
I agree, it's really sad. The man was an institution. It was probably the way he would have chosen to go though - in the middle of action - even if it was a bit too soon. But he always liked living on the edge.
I live in an attic appartment where the windows are set in deep niches, so in the kitchen I've made a little sofa with mattresses, pillows and blankets - I love to sit there. The light coming in from the window is usually perfect and it's close to the fridge ;).
Oh, there are so many! And I like them in different ways. Some just to look at, some for inspiration. I love to look in illustration/fashion illustration books because there are so many different styles of illustration. I'd love to make a list of artists I like, but it would be too long! I'll...

I just logged off from Skype and just wanted to say thanks to DS for setting it up! And it was really great talking to everybody!
And to everyone who wasn't there: I have a dial up modem - if I can do it you can so no excuses next time!
I think it was Bryan Adams. And before you give me grief about this -this was when he was considered cool and sexy and sang Summer of '69 and Everything I do. And I was a kid for crying out loud! :D
OK, maybe I'm just being stupid, but please clear this up for me. The time zone converter says: "UTC = Coordinated Universal Time - the international basis for other time zones. Same time as for GMT (Greenwich Mean Time)" and then it says that Sweden is 2 hours ahead of UTC. But Sweden is only...
The ones I can remember right now:
To kill a mockingbird - really great, I agree with DiscoDan that everyone should read it. It's both serious and innocent at the same time. For everyone who's read The Secret Life of Bees, this book is kind of similar only better and more multifacetted...
How funny that there should be a thread like this, because I wrote my master's thesis in english on taoism and utopia in Le Guin's The Dispossessed. Anyone read that?
Apparently, almost everything important in life is connected to ancient artifacts... :D Here's my list:
1. Be happy in my everyday life. Harder than it sounds.
2. Stand on a hill in a storm. No better way to feel alive.
3. Be insanely in love (not sure it's possible, but still ;))
4. Do...
