Hated books
School assignments can definately make you hate books that otherwise would be a pretty good read.
When I was in highschool, we had to read Tess of the D'urbervilles. I HATED it back then. Years later (about 15 years), I reread it and LOVED it. In fact, it is on my top 10 list...
Welcome fellow southernern. I'm a Louisiana native myself - a beach bum ? Does that mean you're from Florida...if so I must say most of the southern states consider Florida Yankee-invaded (all the yankee move there to retire) and not much southern anymore..lol. Or is it somewhere else along...
I just finished American Gods. It was great. But I was a little confused at the end. When Shadow is talking to the real Odin (I'm guessing he's the real one that's part of why I'm confused), Shadow asked who Wednesday was and Odin Replies..."YOU"...is this just referring to the fact that...
I really liked the Disc World books. They weren't as funny as Hitchhiker's but amusing. If you're unsure, try reading these books by Craig Shaw Gardner, I liked them better than the Prachett books:
-A Malady of Magicks
-A Multitude of Monsters
-A Night in the Netherhell
Rivarlry between Magicians:
Hmmm...How about rivalry between Gods and Magicians. The best one I know of the The Legends Trilogy by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Although you really need to start out with The Chonicles Trilogy by Weis and Hickman First. Basically the main magician Raistlin...
Laugh out Loud Books:
-Hitchhiker's Guide to the Universe Trilogy (actually it's five books) by Douglas Adams
-Dirk Gently by Douglas Adams
-The Ebenezum trilogy by Craig Shaw Gardner
-Big Trouble by Dave Berry
-Disc World Series by Terry Pratchett
I've been listening to audio books in my for a few years now. Since it takes me about an hour to get to work, it helps. I love it. I buy the audiobooks at amazon or at audiobookstand.com, but they're really expensive. I have a CD/mp3 player in my car so sometimes I just rip the tapes I buy...
hard cover
I prefer hard cover because the print is larger and the paper quality is better (no ink smearing). But I agree they are bulky when toteing them around. That's why I only buy my favorite books in hardcover...the rest is paperback.
