Thanks for all the replies. I actually came across Chasing Darkness for $2.99 and didn't want to pass it up. I am enjoying it so far. I really did enjoy Suspect as well. I have two Golden Retrievers and am a sucker for dogs. This book was a great demonstration of the relationship between a...
Do these need to be read in order? I recently read Suspect and the first Joe Pike, and thought I would dive into the Elvis Cole series. I tend to pick up books for cheap when I find a good deal (Half Priced Books, ect.), and it is unlikely that I will find them in order. (I have read Money's...
I have read all four, and I loved them all. The Last Child was my favorite as well. Three of my family members have read it. Though we all focus on different genres, we all loved it. Hopefully, he will keep writing.
For some reason, I read the Harry Bosch books out of order, and this was the first one I read. I enjoyed it enough to continue reading Michael Connelly, but after reading his other works, I find Trunk Music is not at the same level. I am a huge Michael Connelly fan, so I am not knocking him...
I am just getting into the Sandford, Prey Series. Reading Eyes of PRey right now. I am excited to have a new author to read. The Prey books seem to have a darkness that Michael Connelly and Dennis Lehane have.
About the Alex Cross books, at one time they were my favorite. I recommend...
I agree. I read these Harry Bosch books all out of order. Started with Concrete Blonde, read the next two, and then backtracked to see how the series started. To me the Black Echo is worth reading, because you get history of the characters; but the series gets better and better after that.
"The Godfather" is my favorite book of all time. Goodfellas or "Wise Guy" (the original title) was great for a non-fiction read. Another good read is "Gangster" by Lorenzo Carcaterra.
I have read a couple of sequels to "The Godfather", but I did not find them near as entertaining.
I like the Bolitar series the best of them all. The characater being a sports agent does not have too much to do with it. Esentially, most of them involve one of his clients (football star, tennis star, ect.) getting accused of murder or something, and he has to figure it out. There are...
That is exciting about the movie. I hope you enjoy the book. Is this your first Harlan Coben book? I highly recommend his Myron Bolitar series next, if you have not read them. Deal Breaker is the first. They are great mysteries, and the are very funny. I like them all though.
Harlan Coben
Michael Connelly
Greg Iles
Stephen Frey
David Balducci
Brad Meltzer
Phillip Margolin
Those are my favorite contemporaries. I love the old stuff too: Chandler, Thompson, Hammett.
"Every Dead Thing" by John Connelly. Cop tracking the killer of his family. It's very dark, but in a good way.
Another good one is "The Last Family" by John Ramsey Miller.
+1 The Grifters was great, and just about all of Jim Thompson's other books are great too. They are not all about cons, but they all have twisty plots.
