    Everything I've read so far of James Fenimore Cooper, including The Last of the Mohicans. Would they be considered "classics" though?

    Yes! I agree completely. Bad when the author tries too obviously to evoke emotion from his readers. And may I add my one vote to those of The Da Vinci Code?

    I think that it would depend on what you want to capture. For example, thoughts are better explored in print, whereas series of movements will definitely look good in films. As for Unbearable Lightness, the film captured only the tip of the iceberg, so to speak. The book is not an easy read...
