How do you know what years some are meant to be? Is the last one 1999 or 2000, for example?

Best according to whom? Best from where? Best in what field? If you're going to "complete" a list of every single novel or short story collection with a more than "average" rating written in the last 100 years, I'd say you've got your job cut out for you.
