How to Read a Book by Mortimer J. Adler and Charles Van Doren

Have you read this book (below). If you have, what opinion do you have of it?

I can't say that I have. I usually go with the improper way of opening the book, finding a page, and begin reading.

AquaBlue,
My impression from long ago was of slight disappointment (if I remember correctly and am not thinking of some other book), in that the book emphasized how to approach a written work to best absorb its content and gain an understanding of what the author was saying -- rather than how to appreciate the literary values or merit of a particular work.
Again, I may be thinking of some other book, but in any event, take a quick look for yourself to see if Adler and van Doren are on the track you are interested in. For me they were not.
I would appreciate hearing anyone else's opinion, since my copy is packed away and I can't check it.
