Art, anyone?

What are your favorite mediums and tools? What do you like to do when it comes to art or what is your "style" if you have one?

I mostly deal with graphite, sometimes charcoal. Can't live without blending sticks and a kneaded eraser... I've done a bit with photography and Photoshop (my avatar) but, drawing has always been my forte. I like to draw people...faces and eyes. I'm drawn to different expressions and emotions. Anything with shading...I like shading.

Your turn.

What a refreshing question, and I'd be interested to know what others will say.

I can't draw to save my life, but I draw pretty mean stick-men. My trouble is I can't draw stick-women.

Writing, poetry, painting, drawing, and photography :)

Style?

Writing: Err unique and I change my voice to suit the mood and tone of what I want to reflect although there are certain traits that will make it obvious that it's written by me. Defiantly unique writing style

Poetry: See above. I normally write in free form but sometimes use other forms of rhyme and metre such as sonnets, haiku and so on. Poems tend to be short powerful busts of emotion, story, or idea.

Painting: I prefer acrylics on canvas using a combination of fingers, brushes and whatever comes to hand. Style is mostly expressionist with heavy layered paint and sometimes surreal imagery.

Drawing: Pencil, pen, thick ink markers and chalk are preferred drawing tools. Normally landscapes, people, or surreal mish mash of things.

Photography: Try to capture the essence, soul and beauty of a particular thing. So I normally shoot one particular thing or part of a thing. Philosophy is there is beauty everywhere no matter where you are and what you are looking at and aim to show those fragments of beauty. Obsessions with trees, sky, and moon photographs. Style will become more experimental as I learn more about photography.

I enjoy drawing, painting and photography. I draw mostly in graphite and ink - finding chalk rather messy and not as precise. In painting, I tend to use watercolours the most, though I do like acrylics and oils.

Oh, you were asking about style, too - that'll teach me to skim over posts.

My style, when writing, is completely freeform - whatever I would enjoy reading, I write down. I'm my own first (and often only) reader, so I write what I like to read; plain an simple.

Cheers

I can draw with pen and pencil. I haven't done a watercolour for years but wasn't too good as I always made the paint too runny. I'd like to try some oil painting; might buy some paints this year. Recently I've got into using Photoshop and I'm starting work on a collection of images for an amateur game I want to work on. Here's a scene that's currently in development:

Looks excellent - do you have a higher res. pic?

No, that's it as it's designed for a smaller resolution. The graphic becomes bigger (and a little more retro i.e. blockier) when brought to full size. I'm trying to make a medieval Monkey Island style.

Only without the humour, right? I mean, you're you!

Kidding. Planning on putting it online when done? I'd love to see the result.

Cheers

Exactly. :p

If I have the staying power to see it through then I will put it online but, judging by the time periods some groups take to make a game with the Adventure Game Studio, then I'm looking at a 2016 release. :D

I won't be - I'll be there! Unless I have prior arrangements, of course - then your game can go screw itself.

Cheers

Generally I begin by designing on a smaller scale with pencil and paper, sometimes adding color then render the piece full size and full color in fabric. Much of my work can be seen here. There are many styles in quiltmaking, but I tend toward simple and traditional designs, usually with a unique twist that is all my own.

Stewart-- nice

Just had a quick look - sounds good. Are you going to add your own scripting for cut scenes etc or just do a basic program?
