Listening to audio books daily,i come to love and fear certain voices and characteres. For even if the book is excellent,a bad narrator came kill the spirit in it,and ruin the atmosphere. The reciprocity unfortunatly is not true,a bad book will not be made unjoyable by a good reader.
To my great sorrow George Guidall has undertake the casi totallity of Philip Roth audio adaptation.Even worst some of Umberto Eco.So his good taste in literature come directly against my distaste for his petulant old fart voice.
On the other hand Frank Muller Is a pleasure to listen to.
Maybe the greatest reader in French is the actor Michael Lonsdale(the vilain in Mooraker),execptionnel.
Have you personnal enemies among narrators?
