My friend was advising me a science fiction book on a guy who was a lier (style Baron von Munchausen), This "Baron von Munchausen", however, was lying about things that happened to him in a space, how he was flying around various stars and funny things were happening to him.

May be somebody could help with the book's info?

The only thing I can think that's funny and takes place in space is The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. And one of the characters in it is indeed a liar - or perhaps braggart is closer to describing him.

It is a bit strong to call people who claim to be abducted and go on flying saucer trips liars. They might be delusional but are nearly always quite adamant that they are telling the truth, as far as they know.
