Avatars

Why did you choose your avatar and what does it say about you?

I don’t want to be accused of not answering my own questions, so I’ll start. My avatar is a gorse bush, which was one my father’s nicknames for me. I hated cuddles and dreaded weddings and other big family reunions where you have to kisses lots of aunts, uncles, cousins, etc. I am still prickly and defensive when people invade my space.

I was looking for an avatar, and nothing seemed to fit, and I always like Nell from the Dudley DoRight cartoons..I don't have red hair and I'm not from Canada, and my dad drove a cement truck and was never a Canadian Mounty. In fact, I don't remember ever seeing him ride a horse...

pretty self explanitory isn't it?

Really?

Do you remember that episode where Bart goes to the reserve casino and sees what he will be like in the future? Are you really an old fart that spends all day drinking beer and living at someone else's expense? :D

That doesn't sound so bad......I'll let you know when I become and old fart....

i had bubbles from trailer park boys, but calvin suits my personality better. smart ass, mischievious, always trying to dupe his teachers.

I wanted a sophisticated symbol of dynamicism and something that can immediately portray my personality of a quiet, unassuming genius.

I don't think the search engine for avatars worked well with that sort of criteria...

If I could make the creepy Eye of Sauron screaming noise here, I would. Since I can't, I'll just note my semi-obsession with ancient history and the fact that the avatar requirements here were smaller than other forums and so I had to hunt for something cool.

I see you all.

*cue Eye of Sauron freaky screaming noise*

I am a bit of chicken in real life. I don't like conflict much and when I joined this forum there seemed to be a lot of it going around so the little chick peeking around and hiding back in it's egg fit perfectly.

My username is the eponymous heroine of Alan Moore's graphic novels The Ballad of Halo Jones. Martin kindly found a correct (i.e. drawn by Ian Gibson) avatar for me. It doesn't really say anything about me except for the fact that I really liked those novels! :)

I made my dragon from scratch. Hand-drawn. It's on the cover of my book and is actually a tattoo.

Mine is a publicity portrait of myself that I had done. When I went on Oprah, she kept tripping over my tail by accident. It's not easy being pink.

How did they animate your eyes so well? They seem to follow my stare through the monitor.

I picked mine because my screen name, which came to me in a blinding flash of nonsense, reminded me of a Kookaburra. I tried to find a nice one, but couldn't, and then decided that a cute penguin would also suit. I think this one belongs to a small-time computer software company... but I like it! By the way, this was well before I realised this forum had a problem with penguins...

While we are talking about our 'secret' identities, can we discuss the pronunciation of screen names too? I just found out abecedarian is not a-bek-e-darian, but is said as in a, b, c, -darian. And apparently lies is not pronunced like the word for non-truths at all. And I've been saying sirmyk like 'smirk'.
