Ayaan Hirsi Ali: Infidel

The author was a member of the Dutch parliament, one of the most influential people in the world. In this book she talks about her life, since she can remember it, until now. She describes very well the life of Arab women, all habits belonging to a woman's life, and also her own life. Since she didn't want to marry a certain man her father got her, she escaped to Germany, and from there to Holland, building her success from nothing, learning the language, getting used to the Western freedom.
Today she is travelling with bodyguards, always fearing for her life, because she had the courage to speak the truth.

Wow, talk about a late rebirth of a thread! I guess you never know when something pops back up.;)

I just ordered this book from my local book store and I'm really looking forward to it. I've seen her speak on book tv and she's quite compelling. I'm mostly interested to read about her crisis of faith with Islam and how she's able to reconcile herself with a religion that has treated her poorly not to mention put a death threat over her head. I wonder how many other Muslims have and are struggling with the disparity between their faith and the fundamentalist side of it.

If your are still monitoring this thread I'd be interested to know your reaction.
