Barbarians at the Gate !

who ever read "Barbarians at the gate" ? It's abt the LBO of RJR Nabisco ....Who are the barbarians ? What's the gate ne ? Did the barbarians win in the end ? I dun really understand .....

well, you see, there are these minions of satan called KKR (I think), which are the barbarians of the title, but are generally referred to as bastards.

Haven't actually read the book, but the story is well known.

Barbarians at the gate is about KKR's LBO of RJR. It was the largest buyout ever at that time. KKR is an investment company that purchases all or most of a company and fixes them. I was an employee of Randall's Supermarket when they were bought out by KKR and then sold off to Safeway, and it was an uncomfortable experience. They are very good at what they do. Randall's became a lot more profitable quickly.
