Big Dog, Little Dog-type book...looking for a title

Enjoyed this book in the mid-70s and am now trying to find a copy for our babies. Not the Big Dog Little Dog series by P.D. Eastman but a similar dynamic (and one of the animals may have been a bear?). The big critter and little critter were always at odds with what they liked to do (one rode his bike fast, the other slow, etc) but every day at 5:00 (or maybe it was every Sunday), they met for ice cream. Simple story of friends finding one thing in common despite many differences but I cannot remember the title (nor the author) to save my life. Any ideas? Thanks!
