Bollocks. Calling Stewart, Billy O, . . .

How do you spell bollocks? I always assumed it was this way because that's how the Sex Pistols spelled it. Bullocks doesn't look right.

Also, I heard it used as an exclamation in most cases when I lived in London, as in, "Bollocks!" a rough equivalent to "Bullshit!"

Which then makes sense when it's used as a noun, as in, "That's a load of bollocks."

I've heard it also used as a verb. "Don't bollocks this up, lads."

I've seen it spelled also "bollox" but I think this was some intentional illiteracy to yank someone's chain.

Thoughts? I can't find "bollocks" in the UK dictionary I have (Chambers). And "bullock" only appears under "bull" as a castrated bull or ox.

My impression is that loads and loads of wonderful English people use this word all day long in all it's many forms.

Thoughts?

I would spell it Bollocks - it has a couple of meanings - the one you gave (ie as an alternative to Bullshit) is very common, though the phrase 'the Dog's Bollocks' is also fairly common and means excellent/top notch etc.

A Bullock is (in my mind) a young Bull, though it is also used to mean castrated Bull.

It's spelt "bollocks". Maybe your dictionary doesn't have profanities? It is a fairly rude word IMO, but maybe that's because I'm sweet and innocent. *cough* In fact, I don't even know how I know this word. Maybe Silly Wabbit or RaVeN taught it to me. ;)

Yonks ago, but not before they established that a cow is a slovenly or ungainly woman, as in,

That's a bloody load of bollocks, you old cow.

The Queen's English is a marvelously expressive tool.

Well, any excuse to say bollocks seems like a good idea to me, so that is how I will justify this flagrant abuse of the forums swearing rules :D
