I can be pretty everthing, like ...

Printed on the card was 'you've captured my heart'. Written beside this was

'Along with lots of other vital organs.

- Your Square Head.'

A book I recently baught has the dedication saying:
'For you, of course'
I think its beautiful. Its in 'only say the word' by Niall Williams.

Lani

I found the following dedictaion in One Flew over the Cuckoo's Nest by Ken Kesey.

To Vik Lowell
who told me dragons did not exist
then led me to their lairs.

That's really gorgeous.

this is my favourite. it is by steinbeck.

you came upon me carving some kind of little figure out of wood and you said, "why don't you make something for me?"
i asked you what you wanted and you said, " a box."
"what for?"
"to put things in."
"what things?"
"whatever you have," you said.
well, here's your box. nearly everything i have is in it and it is not full. pain and excitement are in it, and feeling good or bad and evil thoughts and good thoughts-the pleasure of design and the indescribable joy of creation. and on top of these are all the gratitude and love i have for you.

and still the box is not full.

The one to me, by my dear husband who is an author. There is nothing to match seeing the finished book for the first time, opening the cover and reading the dedication that's just for you. I'm a lucky woman.

I'm a gardener, so the only thing I can compare it to is what it would be like if someone named a new species after you.

FOR LINDA
In token of myriad fantastic voyages together

It's from my favorite book of all time, which my parents would read cover to cover to me almost daily.

Jen, when I read East Of Eden I was absolutely blown away by this one too. Thanks for reminding me about it :)
