Book lovers who have reading problems

I would be curious to learn about whether or not some of our members have had reading problems and how they overcame them. I imagine a few people are dyslexic or have had to combat some form of problem dealing with decoding text or comprehension. So with that being said, what issues have you or someone you have known dealt with successfully to enjoy reading?

I have been dianosed with dyslexia but it wasn't until my son was diagnosed with it that I realized that I had it. When my son was in first grade he was struggling with reading we tried different reading programs to help him but nothing seemed to be working. So, we then had him tested for learning disabilities. He was diagnosed with dyslexia along with some other learning disabilites. We have since got my son a tudor who specializes in teaching young kids who have dyslexia and have poor decoding. I got to talking to this specialist and told them that I remembered how I struggled with reading comprehension when I was in grade school. Well she gave me a test that was fitted for my age and it showed that I have a mild form of dyslexia. The specialist also told me it was probably more severe when I was younger but schools in the past didn't have the testing or awareness of reading disabilities as schools today have. I was told I probably adapted to it and learn to overcome a good portion of this reading disability on my own.

I have dyslexia, so I read fairly slowly. It takes me about a week to read a 500 page book (not non-stop, I do other things in between).

I used to dread having to read out loud at school. Just couldn't do it.
