I know you shouldnt choose a book by its cover, but I admit a great cover can make me curious and pick up the book. Thought I would start a thread about great covers!

Here are 3 very different covers that I like, please share some of yours! :D

My favorites-based upon color scheme and clarity of colors.

I like this one because the cover is jet black and the white/silver colors really stand out, you notice this one from across the room.

Having browsed about Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk I think the covers I like are those in the UK. While not every cover is going to be excellent I think there are some in the UK which are just do samn catchy, stylised, and wantable. Haruki Murakami's books, despite the amount of spaghetti consumed within, have nice cover designs.

Hey, I didn't know Stephen King had a new book coming out. I knew about The Colorado Kid, and I thought that was the last for a while.

Cool, something to look forward to! :D

The importance of a book cover cannot be overestimated. Often I've bought books in a particular series because of the beautiful cover and have discovered great authors I wouldn't have known about otherwise as a result, such as Tobias Wolff, whose This Boy's Life I first read in the exquisite Bloomsbury Classics series.

The current UK Italo Calvino covers are beautiful, enhanced by the thick unglossed texture of the card they're printed on.

And the Penguin Great Ideas series, published recently, are superb too, again with thick matt debossed covers:

I like modern too, as well as old. Here are some more:

This is also acting as another image test - hope everyone can see these now.

As you can see I like bold, colorful (yet dark in theme) really eyecatching covers. Before I owned these books, I would see them in the bookstore and continue to think about them long after I left the store. The covers made me pick them up and the stories inside are killer. Just looking at them now makes me go "WOW!!!!":D

I believe I tend to be attracted by covers in which women are dressed in gorgeous dresses. Thankfully so far the books have been as good as the covers promise.
