Books with a story of survival?

Hello.

I need some help and would be grateful if you could possibly help me. I'm looking for books with a story of a man (or more) who has to survive in a jungle/island, but an island/jungle with un-natural things happening (not ghosts). Here is a perfect example of a book i'm looking for Click me to read book summary .

Side note - This book was only published in Australia and I would have to import it to the UK, to which I do not like doing.

Any books just like that would be brilliant.

Thanks you very much.

Regards, Gordy

I was thinking of Congo, too. Also, the short story "Survivor Type" by Stephen King, about a medical doctor stranded on an island... to stay alive he slowly devours himself. Hehe! And we can't forget The Island of Dr. Moreau, by H.G. Wells. A classic. The Beach, by Alex Garland is also nice. Lord of the Flies by William Golding is one of my favorites. Is that enough?

Island by Richard Laymon is a rip-snorting good one.
I'm reading The Island of Dr. Moreau right now, as sirmyk suggested. If that doesn't fill the bill...

Hawaii by James A. Michener. Not quite the field you're looking for but definately a great novel about man and an island.
Robinson Crusoe by Daniel Defoe
The Island by Peter Benchley. From the brief scan I made of the link this book looks to be the closest to what you're looking for. Still just a guess.

I read a few pages of the autobiography of the fellow who was trapped in the rock crevass and had to cut his arm off. I don't know the title, though, sorry.

In the fiction vein, what about Lord of the Flies?

You could just wait until March when it will be published in the UK.

It's Between a Rock and a Hard Place by Aron Ralston.
