This is a book I read when I was younger. I'm dying because I can not think of the name of this book, it's killing me.
quick synopsis:
A young boys parents leave each other at the same time. The boy builds a kit car in his garage that his dad had left unbuilt. He takes this red sportscar on a trip even though he is too young to drive. He meets various people in his travels. At one point he meets two grown men who he befriends.
He travels w/ these men and they experience various things together. They put a turbo charger on his car at one point, visit littlle big horn, and get in to a fight w/ some locals in one town.
This probably sounds very scattered, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
