Chatterbox Challenge: This is a yearly contest that pits AI against AI. The aim is to find the best "Chat Bot" out there. Some of them are pretty relaistic to talk with! Anyway, you can go look at the contest main page to see all the contestants bots. Click on the name of the bot and you will be taken to a page that explaines about the bot in question. From there you can go to the chat bots home page and have a chat with it. It's pretty interesting and fun!

Go here and look see: Chat Bots

My fave was Jabberwacky This bot is great! Really fun to talk with and so realistic. At times, you won't believe it's not a real person. This bot actually learns from what people type into it. At the moment it has 1 million words in it's database. Have a chat and see what you think!

Kewl, huh? :)

I played with Jabberwacky years ago. Wey hey. Seriously though, it was back in 1998 that I found it, and it was a bit empty back then, so you could genuinely teach it stuff. My then boyfriend started teaching it Welsh, and you could have a little chat with it and it made sense. Been back since and the Welsh seems to have fallen out of its little digital head, and it's just not as much fun anymore. Keeps coming out with random nonsense and abuse. We emailed the chappy to see if he'd make a little downloadable version that you could just teach yourself without having to deal with the idiots who only seem to want to type in garbage and swear words, and he said he'd consider it, but then never did it.

Ah, that's interesting! :)

Have you tried it again? I would be interested to hear what you think of it this time. I tried talking to it with a bit of French and it came back with some French. I switched to Spanish and it talked back to me in Spanish. I had a pretty "good" converstion with it. Actually, I had a better converstaion with it than I do with most people in Yahoo... But that's not actually that hard to do lol It never once asked my my a/s/l or said kewl. Anyway, if you try it, please let me know what you think of the program now. The guy says that when he reaches 10 mil in the database it will be exactly like talking to a real person. Who knows?
