I purchased this book not just because I've enjoyed some of Barker's past works, but because of the beautiful cover art. Admittedly that's far from the best reason to buy a book, but hey. I'm glad I wasn't let down by what was contained inside. Contrary to what the synopsis promised the reader, Mister B. Gone isn't really a horror novel. It's a fantastic, wickedly funny, and even sad story of a demon named Jakabok Botch (or Mister B. if you prefer) who tells the reader about his adventures in medieval Europe. To call Mister B. Gone a horror novel is misleading, as the book is so much more than that.
