ok the euro 2004 has been covered already in the forum, but i was wondering if you get to see in your countries the "copa america"

The coverage of soccer/football is pathetic over here. For some reason, they seem to think I want to watch golf on every channel.

Would you please fill me in on the event. What countries take part, how often & where is it held, etc..?

Thanks!

it takes place each two years, its held in the comenbol, (south american soccer confederation), its one of the oldest soccer tournaments in the world (think its the oldest, it started in 1910), the teams are colombia, peru, bolivia, venezuela, argentina, uruguay, ecuador, brazil, paraguay and chile. in the last ten years they started inviting two teams from concacaf (central and north america and caribean confederation) being now mexico a permanent guest, this year the other guest is costa rica.

the champion gets to play against the euro champion

every edition its held in a diferrent south american country, this year its in peru

its being played now, its on the second date.
and mexico just kicked argentina's ass :p :D

What a great tradition. You're lucky to be part of it.

I'd trade it for NASCAR any frikkin day!

I watch it, but the coverage over here's not too good - it's usually on at about 3 in the morning  and as we have to get up at 6 for the dogs its not like we get much chance to see it.

Only thing I ever hear of over here is World Cup Soccer. If I knew it was on, I might watch a little of it, but I'm not much of a sports enthusiast.

The only other things I might watch are curling, candlepin bowling, and stuff like that because they're different and unusual.

Living and working in multi-cultural Los Angeles, of course I know it's going on. And if Mexico keeps having success, there will be Mexican flags streaming from cars just the way we have Lakers' banners flying during basketball season.
