Dead brother's extensive (secret) writings uncovered?

I think i heard an item on the radio years ago about a (non fiction?) book covering the above situation. Someone who'd found reams of writing while going through his deceased brother's possessions.

If anyone thinks they might know the title/ author/ anything, i'd be really greatful :)

Doesn't ring a bell. In what country did this happen? Was the brother famous or just a regular guy?

I'm pretty sure they were English, and i don't think either were at all famous until the surviving brother published this book. Not that it was particularly high-profile at all - i just happened to hear this interview on the radio...

Are you sure this isn't Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky,

"The manuscript of the novel was first discovered almost 60 years after the author's death in Auschwitz in 1942. The book caused a storm when it was first published in France, in 2004. It was hailed by critics as a masterpiece and the international rights sold in 18 countries for large sums. The book was intended to be the first two parts of an epic, and this week Chatto, who publish the book in the UK, acquired four more Némirovsky novels. The manuscripts to the works were in a small suitcase grabbed by Némirovsky's 13-year-old daughter when she went into hiding after her mother was arrested by the gendarmerie and sent to Auschwitz-Birkenau."

hm, sounds interesting, but i think they said that the stuff they found from his guy was quite rubbish and deluded...
