Venus: Elizabeth Peter's Amelia Peabody series is a a hoot! I was suprised to find out EP was aka Barbara Michaels, who wrote some of my favorite 'gothic romances' back in the seventies. Her book, Witch was my absolute favorite, one I read several times. She's also written a scholarly work on Egyptian history under the name of Barbara Merton..wouldn't she be fun to talk to?

So far I think they're fantastic. My boyfriend wanted something new to read, and I'd heard some good things about them. We're reading the series together and we're both just loving Amelia.

I'll hav eto check out the Egyptian history book, and the gothic romances as well
