I have been looking for these for years - any help would be very appreciated.
Book 1. It's about a cheese shop in a small town in England which is trying to become the supplier to the queen and get 'by appointment to the queen' on their shop and products. They have a local rival also trying to win the title and sabotage their attempts. There may have been a giant cheese being rolled at some point. It was probably published between the 70s and 90s and aimed at 8-12 year olds.
Book 2. It's about 2 children who run away - I think it was a sister (elder, maybe about 12 or 13) and brother (maybe about 7). All I can remember is that they ran quite a long way and are definitely in France for a significant part of the book (so I imagine they were from England). They get chased by French police and the girl tells the boy they are called gendarmes. I think there was a big search for the children and the police were probably trying to help them, but they're very afraid. The reason they ran away might have been because the boy stole something and there might have been a boat. It was probably written much the same time as the other book (definitely before 1996) and also aimed at 8-12 year olds.
Please help!!
