I want to point eyes and hands to this excellent piece by Adam Roberts in his blog where he reviews Fairyland by Paul McAuley, but not before he discusses what he feels is the distinction between SF and fantasy.

Interesting reading, if nothing else.

Ah, if you're talking about Roberts's no-nonsense writing style, you have got to read his reviews of the Wheel of Time series. It is absolutely hysterical, and he pulls no punches.

Oh, and Roberts's novels are supposedly not too bad too.
