I like Rod Serling's definition: "Fantasy is the impossible made probable. Science Fiction is the improbable made possible."
 
Ah, if you're talking about Roberts's no-nonsense writing style, you have got to read his reviews of the Wheel of Time series. It is absolutely hysterical, and he pulls no punches.

Oh, and Roberts's novels are supposedly not too bad too. :)
