Do you read/enjoy author blogs and websites?

Do you enjoy learning about and getting extra insights and writing from your favorite authors on websites? Do you interact with authors on their blogs or MySpace? Just curious. The publishing industry supports authors becoming more accessible. I'm looking for the readers' perspective.

I read (but do not participate in) William Gibson's, Neal Stephenson's, and Neil Gaiman's websites.

The only two Author websites I tend to check are Bernard Cornwell's and George R. R. Martin's

I read Laurell K. Hamilton's blog for news about her upcoming books. I don't really care for the rest of it. I also read Poppy Z. Brite's livejournal, which is much more entertaining (and well-written). I've skimmed through George RR Martin's blog a few times but I'm not a devotee or anything.

I like to read author blogs and generally I will participate in commenting to them. One of my favorite is Romancing the Blog even though the authors who post there are not mainstream authors. Some interesting discussions and points are brought up reading blogs like this.

I like reading author sites, everytime I finish a new book that I like I look for the author on the net.It somehow makes the pleasure of being in the world of that book longer.

I must admit that I have only visited an author's site to see a list of upcoming or newly-released novels. I don't much care to know much else, to be honest. Of course I also don't care about celebrities and/or sports stars and all of their "hoopla" that the media presents either. It doesn't matter to me what they do on their own time. All that matters to me is what they write, how they act/sing/compose or how they play on the field.

I guess I'm just not very personal and prefer to see them as vessels through whom the written word is presented, instead of actual people with real life problems.

Probably. Especially if they have excerpts from their new books that haven't been released yet.

The only one I've visited is Stephenie Meyer's and I really enjoyed the content she has there. I usually don't visit others just because I haven't thought of it... and I'm not a huge fan of one particular author. But I think it would be fun to frequent some authors' blogs - got any you would recommend?
