Hello all!
I am hoping someone can help me with the name/author of this book. I read it years ago, and just thought of it the other day when I was telling bedtime stories to my kids. Now it just keeps bugging me that I can't find it. (and I'm driving my husband crazy) I've looked on the internet and at Amazon.com and none of the keywords I use have helped me find it.
Okay, here's what this children's book is about:
There is a couple who lives in a house in a valley - I think the rest of the land is flat. The wife always complains that she has no view from her kitchen window, and the husband complains about having to walk up out of the valley every day to get to work. One night a rock rolls down and lands in front of the kitchen window. The valley starts to become more shallow, becomes flat, then finally becomes a hill. Everyone comes to climb the hill to look at the view. The wife still complains because now she can't see the view out of her kitchen window, and at some point her husband paints a scene on the rock. Anyway, the rock eventually rolls down the hill. The couple hear a hissing sound that night, and the hill gets smaller and smaller, until it's finally a valley again. I don't remember how it ends!
I just remember that story being so cute, and I want to read it to my kids. Anyone who can help with this, I'd appreciate it!
Thanks!
Jess
