I just finished Point Omega by Don Delillo. It is the story of a documentary film maker attempting to create a one take interview/film of the ramblings and musings of an aged advisor to the U.S. defense department.
Isolated in the New Mexico desert the young filmaker and the old man form a bond that is strengthened by the arrival of the elderly gentleman's daughter.
And then something bad happens.
At one hundred sixteen pages, this story could be finished in a single sitting. It took me three days due to the fact that DeLillo's prose is so entrancing in places, that I didn't want to rush through it. That said, at the end I felt that the book was just too short for all of the ideas and themes that it was attempting to deal with. I wanted more, but maybe that is the proof of a good story.
