Has anyone read the book Musashi by Eiji Yoshikawa? I just started reading it and so far I like think it is pretty good. Im only on page 100 so if you've read it already dont give up anything. I was just seeing if anyone else has ever read it or heard of it.

Never even heard of it. What's is about, so far?

And completely off-topic, I see you're from Georgia! I'm from GA, too. Where are you? I'm in Lawrenceville, a 'burb of Atlanta.

Well it's about the Samurai Musashi Miyomoto (sp? dont have book with me) who was a real person. The book is a fictional account of his life. And actually i'm from California but I moved to GA in 98 now I live in Statesboro but I am moving to Alpharetta in July!

Okay, so I'm not much into Samurai's and such... didn't recognize the the name. Thanks, for enlightening me. :)

I was born in California (Sierra Madre in LA), grew up in Kansas and Colorado, and moved here in 1990. Oh, and my best friend lives in Jonesboro, which is about next door to you. :D

I just picked up the Book of Five Rings on Saturday. Thanks for clueing me in to this book, I will check it out as soon as I get through that one.

Cool Tigress I grew up in Los Gatos, CA southern Bay Area. Kasuta let us know how The Five Rings is please!

Have you read the Tale of Genji by Murasaki Shikibu? It's the book widely reputed to have been the first novel ever written, about the life of the 'shining prince.' It's a thoroughly interesting read from the perspective of understanding Japanese feudal life, but be prepared for 800 or so pages of love poems and the like, with a variety of different women, naturally. The samurai probably had a more thrilling life...

I am resurrecting this thread because I just started reading this book and so far, I adore it! I stayed up way too late last night because it sucked me right in. So far I'm only about 100 pages in, and it's about 950 - so it's really long - yay! :)

Has anyone else read it?
