I have sorted out in my consciousness that embryos are not humans or anything resembling human life, so it's easy for me to say, Yes. Plus, steam cell research works on the assumption that only embryos slated for destruction would be used, so it's in fact optimizing an otherwise useless waste.
I'm for stem cell research because I think that the potential benefits far outweigh the supposed negatives. As Heteronym pointed out, the stem cells used come from "waste" embryos, and so I don't see anything wrong with attempting to further life using materials that were destined for death in the first place.
Oh goodness, yes. Just think of the advances in treatment that are coming from stem cell research. Even though there are no miracle cures so far, we're learning about what causes cells to differentiate and the chemical triggers that may be modifiable someday. Very positive research.
This one's a no-brainer.
Let's see, on the one hand I can just flush these cells down the tubes, or on the other hand, I can study them and learn so much about human biology and disease that the most debilitating diseases of our day might be curable. Gee, do I care more about that goo in the petri-dish or about my mother with Alzheimer's? Too late for my mother, but it might not be too late for your mother - if only the people who make these decisions didn't have their heads so far up their butts.
