This is an entertaining read. Crossfield does a great portrayal of his characters and doesn’t bog down the reader with superfluity. He develops the personalities further with each episode, from a sparse and seemingly superficial snapshot to multi-dimensional journal of a couple of real-life detectives who provide an entertaining contrast: the plodding analyzer, trudging along in deceptive puzzlement, and the quick-thinking subordinate who would rather be off-duty.
I see the same slick word-craft as in his comedic “Remembering the Good Stuff,” utilized very effectively in real-world settings that he has drawn from his police background. These mysteries are truly mysteries – I tabbed the wrong suspect on every one of them.
I would definitely enjoy seeing more of this series.
