have to write a essay about the topic: Do you believe a person should be totally self-reliant? after reading Fahrenheit 451 and Anthem

My essay is flat.. and there are no quotes, any suggestions would be great

I really need help on this seeing as english is my bad subject (you'll see after reading)

After reading both “Anthem” by Ayn Rand and “Fahrenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury, I believe that a person should not be totally self-reliant because if things turn in the wrong direction you will be left alone to fight through the hardships, even though you may make more discoveries if you are self reliant. There are many reasons as to why and why not a person should be totally self-reliant, but the negatives overrun the positives.<?xml:namespace prefix
In Fahrenheit 451, Guy Montag had his own thoughts on his occupation as a fireman, and began to disagree with the idea of burning books. He secretly stocked the books in his house, taking them from the houses he would burn down. When he was caught by the Chief of the Fire Department, Beatty, he was left to run away and escape from his city. In this case, being self-reliant was not a good thing, because he had to go on the run alone, with everyone else against him. Luckily he ran into a group of people led by a man named Granger, who is part of a world wide book recovery system. They memorize the books and when the war ends, will rewrite them for all to read
In Anthem, Equality 7-2521 lives in a society where individuality is not allowed. You are given a job, and must follow all of the rules, without having your own thoughts. Equality would go out at night into a tunnel and write his thoughts, he found materials in the hole, and created a light bulb. Once he shares his invention with the World Council, he is rejected and forced to run away. He takes the love of his life: The Golden One and they stumble upon an old house, with books and electricity inside, and decide they will stay there and go back for their friends eventually. In this situation, being self-reliant did help because they found a old house with technology not found in the city, but they also were left to stay alone, with only each other.
Although there are many good things about being self-reliant, being totally self-reliant isn’t such a good idea because you can’t get help when you need it, and it often makes that person look like the enemy. Ayn Rand and Ray Bradbury’s novels show that it is ideal to be reliant on other people, and not only yourself.

any help would be awesome. im such a terrible writer. if you are really helpful. could you help me remember a quote that can go in

thank you so much! sam

Especially with that username, it doesn't look like you're intending to become much of a part of this community. I vote against helping with homework.

I second that motion.

It can be overturned if you get involved a little. But by then your project will probably be way overdue.

I'll look a bit later for quotes and post them here, but other than that, you need to write this assignment yourself. How can you learn self-reliance if you have another do your homework?

See the conflict in lessons here?

Besides that, it's not that hard to find quotes in two short books if you've actually read them. Of course, if you've simply read the Cliffs Notes that may be a problem. You've still got time to read those books. It should take you less than a day to do so, make sure you underline quotes as you go. It won't kill you.

The first page of 451 holds some great sentences; you should start there, and then read the rest of the book.

All the way to the fifty-seven thousand, three hundred forty-third word... Or there abouts.
