I read this book in 1990 and I have been looking for the title and author on every site I can possibly do a search. I am now breaking down to ask for help.
The the basic plot is this:
A truck driver picks up a prostitute along the road. The two then proceed to get into a crash where both are about the die. At that point, a man appears with the option of either dying right there or being transported to a world where everything is different.
They both are transported to a fantasy world. The prostitute becomes a sorceress who's powers continue to increase as long as she is celibate. Similarly, the truck driver becomes a elven-type warrior with similar restrictions (but I can't remember the details of his vice restriction).
I enjoyed the book immensely at the time. The plot was sophisticated and original, and there was a dry wit and humor about it that was refreshing.
Any ideas?
