If you could pick any 6 people, living or dead to have a dinner party with, who would they be and why?

1. My Grandfather on my mother's side
Apparently we were best friends when I was very young but I dont really remember him.

2. Pope JPII
I admire his astounding strength of faith and his moral courage. He also seemed like a good laugh and good company.

3. Robert F Kennedy
A man of deep conscience who had the humilty to U turn over Vietnam because he knew it was right even though it meant selling out his Brother's legacy. also a champion of the poor and i think the world would be a better place today had he been allowed to live to become President.

4. Jock Stein
A fascinating and robust character. I'd love to talk to him about his achievements and about how he viewed football and the world in general.

5. Liv Tyler
Cos she is such a beauty.

6. Tolkien
I'd love to talk to him about a multitude of things including faith, politics, and writing.

Alexandros III Philippou Makedonon

Albert Einstein

Socrates

Abraham Lincoln

Thomas Jefferson

Samuel Clemens

Why should be obvious.

Can this dinner party be fictional?

1. Hannibal Lecter

2. Jame Gumm

3. Randall Flagg

4. Robert Gray (aka Pennywise the Clown)

5. Christopher Reeves, post mortem

6. Steve Eurkel, or that Swedish kid from Malcom in the Middle

I think you are missing something here.

Robert, your guests may be fine one to one or in twos, but put them all together and there would be a punch up before dinner was over.

syrmik, would you fancy being the main course?

I'm sure Alexandros III Philippou Makedonon will keep the peace.

*The Buddha

*Karl Marx

*Franklin Roosevelt

*Andrew Jackson

*Sigmund Freud

*Ty Cobb

-There would be a pre and post dinner cigar where upon Mr. Freud, Jackson, and myself would light up some good Cubans. We would then proceed to watch Ty Cobb punch out Freud upon being quizzed about his childhood. :D

I see you have a dark side, sirmyk. But why Steve Eurkel?

I will take people from movies, books AND real life! Muahahaha :p

1. Stephanie Plum. She's entertaining all on her own.

2. Amelie Poulain from the movie Amelie. It would be a lot of fun to talk to her.

3. Silk from David Eddings's Belgariad series. I'd just have to watch him very closely...

4. Bill Bryson. He knows the most interesting things about pretty much everything.

5. Dumbledore from the Harry Potter books. So I could ask him just what the hell he was doing. And so he could do magic.

6. Leah from Barbara Kingsolver's The Poisonwood Bible. She's also very interesting and articulate.

-My late grandmother

- Paul Hester

- Colin Firth

- Neil Finn

- Tim Finn

- John butler.

6 is hard...make it 20...

- Hitler (I have always been interested in him, but that's not to say that I support him. I just find him intriguing).
- Stalin (same reason as Hitler)
- Queen Elizabeth I
- King Henry VIII
- Cleopatra
- Ceaser

And the last four because I'm really interested in history and would love to meet them.

Because any one of my fictional guests (besides the dead vegetable dish Reeves) could do great harm to Mr. Suspenders-and-glasses. Snort... Hehehe! Did I do that?

I think you just have a secret yearning to play the accordian & learn to polka.

While I pass the Ferrero Rocher I'd like to listen to these people chatting...

Jane Austen
Charlotte Bronte
Georgia O'Keeffe
Frida Kahlo
Fanny Burns
My Best Friend Lyndsey

(Of course there is another list involving me and gentlemen of the calibre of George Clooney, various Italian footballers and Angelina Jolie, but I didn't want to lower the tone.......)

Hmmmmm, intriguing list. For some reason, I believe Hitler, Stalin, and Caesar would hide somewhere and make plans to take over the world. In all seriousness, I don't know how many books about the relationship between Hitler and Stalin there are. Both men admired each other's leadership skills, even if they despised one another's ideological views. I think the Queen and King would probably be pretty distant from the more notorious "guests."
