Favorite Bedtime Stories

My friend's five year old son wants for his dad to read him some bedtime stories. The problem is that my friend (Mr. Dad) doesn't know any good ones. Can you help? Which were your favorites?

Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales, Jacob Grimm, Book - Barnes & Noble

But when I was little, it was a lot of Berenstain Bears and Archie comics a few times...

Definitely killer.
Do you remember the story about the girl who got "bit" by a spider on her face? Then her cheek got all swollen and it turned out the spider had actually laid eggs in her face? Ugh. That story seriously disturbed me when I was a kid.
