Future prodictions

I watched a programme a few days ago and it was quite chilling. It was about people who have predicted the future and what will happen. I can't remember it too clear now, but there was these 3 girls who got posessed or something like that, saying they saw an angel, or some what... They said something in the future about the world having a huge change around. They said that there will be a huge heatwave and there will be no water for anyone and people will turn into eating each other because the heat will be too hard for them to bear that many will start going crazy.

It was kind of a weird programme, did anyone else watch it?
 
I didn't watch it.

It sounds like "The Drowned World" which I'm currently reading. Perhaps these girls are fans of Ballard. A theory on the part about "going crazy" in this book is that humans might have biological memories from the era with similar climate.
 
Ballard is one of the best writers. His works (well, at least those I've read) from the fifties up until the modern day have been excellent. I'm reading a few of his short stories at the moment. Passes time on the train when I can't be bothered to commit to a full novel.
 
The only short story I've read by Ballard at so far is "Running Wild", I'm going to try "War Fever" next by Ballard because of a recommendation.
