Will be going to Geneva for a couple of weeks and Vienna for a couple of days for work. Was wondering what I should look out for while I'm there... any suggestions?

Altes Rathaus

What makes the Altes Rathaus an interesting place to visit? Is it the archtecture or have they converted the town hall to a museum? Or something else?

Stephan's Dom looks great.

It's the architecture that makes it so cool.

Do you have a big suitcase? I'd love to be a stowaway on that trip. (Any trip, really.)

Yes, but I think we might get busted when they put you through the scanner! Also the x-ray radiation might not be too healthy for you :D

Gizmo, Stewart, Wabbit, thanks!

I showed your list to my wife, Gizmo, and the first thing she said to me was: "Are you sure all of those are in Vienna?" :D Those are lovely pix, Gizmo, and I'm tingling with anticipation... It is a great list - I take it that the ones with exclamation points are the ones I should give priority?

Too bad I've only 2 days in Vienna, as compared to 2 weeks in Geneva. I'm entertaining the idea of driving down to Vienna from Geneva - I hear it's only about 3 hours drive.

Or maybe not, especially if it's left-hand drive.

Any ideas on Geneva?

Wabbit - how far it is from where to are to Vienna? Is it cheap to travel from UK?

Why would they put me through the scanner? I've got it all figured out. You drive to Dover, get on the ferry, get off in Calais, drive to Brussels, pick me up, and it's full speed ahead from then on! (London-Brussels shouldn't take you more than 7, 8 hours?)

There are no scanners involved! Don't listen to whatever it is they're trying to con you into believing!

Uhm... if Wabbit's gonna pick you up, then why would you want to hide in the suitcase?

:D

It's a fetish kind of thing. Reversed claustrophobia, bondage, stuff like that.

Whatever lights your candle man  Just don't expect me to wear any leaher or nothing the border guards get a bit funny with you when you do that

Direstrights, just checked on Easy Jet. They don't fly directly but they fly to Geneva so I could just get the train down. I'm guessing since its just three hours drive it would not be too expensive? The flight the Geneva is £29 pounds there and £38 back. So pretty cheap  The good thing about being in Europe is the rest of Europe is close in distance and cheap to get to :)

Try this site for info about the Schönbrunn Palace.
Schönbrunn Palace

The Kapuzinergruft (also called Kaisergruft) is so creepy. It is beneath a church in the middel of Vienna and there are the caskes of 146 people (among others 12 emperors and 19 queens and empresses). The wooden caskets are in metal sarcophaguses and they look so creepy with skulls and angels on them. There are also a great deal of casket for babies and kids who died young.

The Secession is all about art by Gustay Klimt. Really gorgeous.
