Gobbley-Wobblin or something like that

Hi all,

When I was in 2nd or 3rd grade, I remember reading a very old book. I don't know where I got it, but it was a hard cover, and the pages were very yellow. I think the title was something like "The Gobbly-Wobblin" or Gobbeldy-Wobblin, or some variation. I don't even really recall much of the plot, except the title character was some strange little guy and there were two children involved that followed him to some mythical land to complete some sort of quest. The book was several chapters long - I remember it being at least an inch thick. I read at about a 6th or 7th grade level at that time, so its entirely possible it wasn't a book meant for a 2nd or 3rd grader, but I have no way of knowing. I think it's a very obscure book, but I was hoping someone here would know the actul title and maybe the author. I never finished the book because when I got to the end I found several pages were missing (it was a very old book) and although I can't remember much of the plot, it bothers me to this day.

Thanks for the help if anyone can provide it!

The Gobbly Wobblin

Hello! I have this book!! It is called "The Gobbly Wobblyn" by H. S. Swittmaak and this is Book No. 2 of the series "The Rubber-oons". It has a very bizarre looking rubberized "king" parading on the front. Similar to the Michelin Man! The book belonged to my mother's cousin, who has written his name in and the date of 1928.The binding is in bad shape, especially the spine. It goes to page 286, but I cannot tell if that is the last page of the book. There is a musical score on the inside back cover. I would be curious to know if this is the book you are referring to. I've kept it these years just because the cover is so unique. Let me know! Kathy

Wow, I posted this years ago and I finally received a reply! Thanks to your post I have been able to find several items on the internet regarding this book. I believe you have the second book in a set of 2 - the one I read was the first book. Several of the sites I found had copies of the books for sale for $150 or more. The book I read was the one with the pegasus-like creature on the front.

I don't think I'll be buying a copy to read anytime soon as it appears to be a sought after collectible but I am grateful for your post! Perhaps you'd like to get yours appraised and look it up on some websites yourself. Thank you for helping me solve a mystery from my childhood!

I've included a link to an eBay listing so you can see the set together.

Regards!
