Escaped from jail in Australia,Gregory David Roberts manage to make it to bombay where he live in slump practicing medecine, then in jail in India, work for bollywood, fight with the Mujahideen....
It's supposed to be a true story, but i would say there is a good bit of fiction in it!
Anyway, for people who like India or would like to know more about he place,it is a very entertaining book, and very close to the spirit of the country. As well as that there a nice insight of the backpacker world not very often describe in books(apart from the beach but in a walt disney spirit!)
So as a nonfiction-fiction book it's quite good.

I bought this book a while ago, but just couldn't get into it. It wasn't the story, but rather the writing style that bothered me. It's a shame, as I think he must have led an amazing life. I ended up giving the book away to a friend, but maybe one day I'll give it another go.

He sure is not a writer, and you would need to have a certain interrest in the Country. My wife did like it ether!
I think Johnny Deep bough the right to make a movie, you'll have the storie without the writing then.
