halo 2

this game ... is a fucking work of art. the new features are insanely awesome. you can hold a needler in the master chief's right hand and an assault rifle in the left, then spray a beautiful multicolored hail of light and lead, which blossoms on impact, annihilating covenant brutes with an overcompensated helping of blood, in shades of pink and yellow and, golly, even baby blue. you just can't ask for more than that. the environments are, for the most part, serene, though, they start you off on a space cruiser then drop you in what appears to be a war-torn region of africa. very intense. also, the new weapons are sweet. the multiplayer is kickass. you can get the sarge. to drive the warthog while you man the .50 cal. newsflash: getting run over by a ghost no longer results in immediate death. they even give you a sword. how sweet is that?

overall, it's very sexy.

I haven't even played the first Halo yet! Should I get that, then get this one? Or should I just forget the first one (but miss the backstory)?

My brother pre-ordered the game and got it last night. He has been playing it non-stop.

Can one play it on a Pentium II 450? <kidding>

(or is it just for Xbox?)

P.S. Not kidding that I own a 450. I need to upgrade, I guess.

that's an interesting question. I guess if the storyline is important to you, then play them in order. you won't regret it. I'm not kidding. when I finished the last level in halo, it made me all teary-eyed. that master chief is a really swell guy.

 Is it available for PCs, bobby? It might be interesting to try. Hubby likes shoot-em-ups and Christmas is coming.

Halo 2 will be out on PC if you can afford to wait a year or so  By that point it'll probably be cheaper to buy an X-Box anyway (seeing as new PC games seem to cost £40 these days).
