In which case it's a good thing it looks like we'll be levelling out at 10 billion around 2100 or so. The challenge, of course, is feeding them without wrecking the environment in the process or messing up the economic system beyond repair.
The way it looks right now, the average Swede will soon have the lifestyle of the average Bangladeshi anyway. But whatever you or I think of it, those 7 billion are now a fact, and barring mass extinction, we'll have to deal with it somehow.
And it is a fact that's far too little reported that in the last 50 years, the average standard of living throughout the world has gone up as the amount of armed conflicts have gone down, even though the population has increased. That's not to say there aren't problems left to solve, but personally I'm more optimistic than I was when we hit 5 billion in the middle of the cold war.

I have read reports that give conclusive, if counter intuitive, evidence that we do indeed live in a less violent world than our ancestors. The media plays a role in keeping us well wrapped in fear, I'm afraid. That is a shame, the good news should be at least as widely reported as the bad.
I hope your optimism proves to be justified. I have such high hopes for the future of our species. If we can just make it to an age of reason without self destructing yet again I believe we will do wondrous things. I think that the next several hundred years will be the most critical period of our history since Toba took a swing at us.
