Happy Birthday Internet!

The internet is 35 years old! ( yesterday ). Come a long way in that time. Wonder what the future holds. I think the best thing is that it has made us all closer. I wonder, in those 35 years, how many friendships and loves have flourished :)

Hopefully it has a bright future and the social changes that it brings come to pass and the big money and the big government do not win the day!

What will the the future hold? Personally, I think that the day will come when t.v and movie producers will find themselfs in trouble. I am not talking about downloading here! No, I think the technology will come about that will allow people to make fully CGI movies and T.V programs in the home. This is a long way off. The computer power and software needed to do that are not here yet. Also, the bandwith needed is not commong enough. But I think, in about 5 to 10 years it will arrive!

Anyway, happy birthday net! What do you think the future holds for the net?

the internet will become aware of its own existence and exploit nanobots to turn the entire universe into cardboard.

I hope it doesn't change too much in the future. I just need text and images. I don't need a bunch of fancy animation and video.

The only thing I wish I had right now is a compact laptop with wireless internet so that I could look things up when I'm away from a computer. I'm usually driving down the road or at work thinking, "I'll have to look that up when I get home." By the time I get home, I've forgotten what I was going to look up. Or someone will ask me a question and I can't answer it because I don't have access to the 'net at the time.

Do you have some kind of machine that generates these seemingly random expressions?

And if so, can I have one, too?

Cheers

He's talking about grey goo, whereby the nanobots go bonkers and convert everything thing on the planet into a uniform mush of uselessness thus killing everyone and everything. I don't think it will be controlled by the infoweb though. More likely there's already some strange Excel function that no one's found yet.

Aye. Took about three sentences to spot the bot. Then she just got into a bit of a loop as we argued about her programmer. I need to get out more.
