I've written two novels, one published and one not. I've posted a passage from the unpublished Blundering Captain. It does indeed suffice, because an author does not go down with the ship, and so I was not afraid to make the Captain's blunders great and damning among all blunders. And although Captain Crecy is an exaggerated study of charisma, he blunders like no one else, I would say.
....My published novel is a study against the Machiavellian amoral ethic, though I have heard that historically Machiavelli was not evil. But, as the blundering Captain Crecy would say, "I am too busy supplying the world with formidable histories to more than glance at a sensible page of hitherto!"
